This was a day of transitioning environment. We are starting the transition into the plains states over the next couple of days.
We left Lake Geneva after having breakfast in this resort town about 9 am. Rick and I have been avoiding the interstates since leaving Rhode Island, and today was no different.
As we head west the farms are much bigger and the trees become less scarce as we head west. In the late morning we encounter some drizzle and clouds, but by late morning we are on straighter roads, and the sun is out. All we see are farms that are for miles…
By 6 pm we arrive in Sprit Lake area in the Okoboji IA area, and it’s hot, humid and the fires from the west are affecting the air quality here.
400 miles of corn! 😝 🤣
The Lake Geneva Hotel was darling, so was the town. Then you’ve got the Resort, a world apart. I’ll stay at the small family owned hotel.
Wow, they have Harley dealers everywhere!

Sure is a corny post 😂 but I love all the corn! Lake Geneva area looks pretty cool – nice rest stop. As you head west, I have to remember you’re in a different time zone again – you keep gaining riding hours – YAY!
