4 Corners/Route 66 Tour – 2021

We had a great ride in the morning to get to the south Entrance of Crater Lake National Pak

Crater Lake is Amazing! Water is so blue. I rate this up there with the Grand Canyon

After we left the park, we found some small roads and byways through the cascades and into some more mountains revealing lava flows

Will be using my newly purchased lifetime National park pass today. Never been to this park before.

We will be leaving Klamath Falls and making our way to White Salman, WA… at least that is the plan

Another great day riding in the mountains.  We did not have much cell service so did not post much during the day.

Left this clear crisp morning from Larry’s to continue on Mt Rose highway. This pass overs a spectacular view of Lake Tahoe from the north. Pictures can mot capture it. We continued along the north shore to catch 89 north and we are now stopped at Sierraville. I never pass an espresso opportunity 🙂

Because we haven’t started our 4 Corners ride.

Right after we left Mammoth Lake my radio showed I received a message and read it to me. Larry saw we were heading by his place and offered a place to crash for the night. So we diverted our plans a bit to go see him. Also will give us the opportunity to ride Mt Rose highway and pass which has a spectacular view of Lake Tahoe as you descend.

And got the elevation, it’s 85 degrees in Mammoth Lakes. Time for gas and a treat.

Like Dean told me yesterday, it’s hot and windy! Need to take some clothing off and put the sunscreen on!

And now we have to..,,

Always a little nerve racking getting ready for a trip like this. You never know what weather you will hit. We are spoiled here in SoCal and think it is usually sunny, dry and warm. Outside of our bubble the world changes so you need to pack for rain and cold, even though it’s summer and some tools. And there is only so much room…

Since it’s hot right now in CA, Rick and I are planning to head to highway 395 to Mammoth Lakes and try to stay at elevation in the High Sierras in the Sierra Nevada mountain range heading north to Seattle. But we have approximately 300 miles of heat first.
