They say history is written by the victors. So far you’ve heard one viewpoint on teams 60s and 70s from Dean, so now it’s about time you allow me to retort before you form any opinions.
Team 70s. The Tanji brothers. Farm boys, Grew Amonds (Almonds), wake up early, hard workers, with get-r-done attitudes. Team 70s with their efficiency typically likes the quickest way from point A to point B riding the truck routes, I mean Interstates… You would think age would reflect wisdom. But so far we’ve encountered couple of riding on the wrong side of the road and two naps with the motorcycles.
Team 60s. Rick and Jim. Midwest boys. Hard work ethics. Yes, a bit bigger bikes and flashier. Cruise control, ABS brakes, stereos with amps. Like the back country roads so they can slow down in the towns to show off bikes before hitting the throttle on the other end of town. Not crazy about 4 a.m. wake up calls cause it affects beauty sleep.
So don’t believe all the news you may hear on this blog, but be sure of this…
So far, the riding has been great and the company superb!
We have had to tweak a few things due to Elsa, but otherwise we are far ahead of schedule.
Dean, I have seen three times in the last week that the speedo clocked at 102, 112 and a 113, I know damn well having owned many Hondas that that must have been team 60’s. Not sure a Honda 500 runs well at those speeds. If fact I don’t think any bikes in my garage will cruise at those speeds. The 60s team ride twistys until your arms are limp at 20 mph and then 100mph on the straight aways!! I am with you nothing wrong with the interstates in some areas, Jimmy breaks out in hives if he is on more than a two lane highway! Keep posting, outside of Elsa it looks like some amazing riding!!
Hmmmmm, the new power bikes, cruise control, stereos, back country roads… I’ll take team 60’s.
Sounds relaxing and comfortable to me. 😎
I think team 70’s needs a special award for doing the trip on the older bikes, the true meaning of Iron Butt.
What a great team the four of you are, truly amazing and so fun to be able to follow your trip!
I have to agree with JeanR…I’m all about comfort. Back country roads run in the family…I avoid freeways whenever possible. I even live on a back country road…still gravel with the nearest freeway 20 miles away😄 Different strokes for different folks. At the end of the day you all arrive at the same spot, and you’ve all had an amazing ride!!!
Hey JannieV, your place sounds nice! I have a freeway out my back door, and when I was a kid it was considered “out in the sticks”. Great you live in the countryside!
I’m with team 60s I’ll take the back roads and going through the small towns over the freeway any time.
